Friday 14th March - walks **** – Sunrise at Landguard and Felixstowe Prom – sunny but chilly.

Walk 1 – Sunrise at Landguard.

Mag set the alarm for 5.30 as there was a red full moon including a lunar eclipse with the best time around 6.20 but it was going to be low on the western horizon. I was not sure where to go but I chose to start at Felixstowe dock view point as you have a clear view west but sadly I quickly realised that I was probably not going to see it, despite being fairly clear everywhere apart from over Essex to the west which had a bank of cloud:( With a fence along the view point as they are reinstating the beach again so after taking a pic of the container ship I parked up near Landguard Fort and walk across the Nature Reserve with rabbits darting everywhere and reached the small wooden pier and it was atad on the chilly side. The time for the lunar eclipse had passed and with a container coming in as the sun was rising I walked to our picnic spot on the old jetty to watch it come in and got some nice pics before walking back to make a drink with toast and marmalade to warm up and sort out my pics!

Walk 2 – Around Felixstowe including chips on the beach with Maeva:)

Being Friday, Maeva day Mag drove round to pick her up while I started my exercises in the sunny back garden. Mag returned around 11 and we had a lovely hour outside as Mag potted some dahlia’s while Maeva had great fun with the watering can. We then all walked down to Langer Park for some fun on the swings and slide being nicely sheltered from the chilly NE breeze. We then cut through to the prom and with Mag buying sausage and chips while I found a lovely sheltered spot behind a rock groyne and it was really pleasant:) It was great to be out in the sunshine and the sea looked great for foiuling but it was too cold for me! Then it was time to walk home which was not great with the cold wind right in your face and we were pleased to get home to get the hot water bottles out, but still a top day:)
